The vector mahlstick is used to support the hand when working on fine details in a painting, as well as to draw even lines with the brush while painting without touching the work.
Unlike my classic mahlstick, the vector mahlstick consists of three links. The third link (39 cm) is a ruler for drawing even lines with a brush in any direction.
In cases when the ruler is not needed, it folds up and the tool can be used as a regular two-link mahlstick.

When choosing a tool, keep in mind that a hand with a brush can still add 10 – 15 cm.

i For the first time I advise you to get used to the instrument by removing the middle link. This is done literally in a couple of minutes (see photo).
In this case, the tool turns into an ordinary small moustabel and it will be as comfortable as possible to work with it.
After getting used to the tool you can put the middle link and work with the ruler as needed.
Reminder: The third link is more of a ruler than a hand rest. Since the length of the tool in the fully unfolded state is very long (107 cm), in the L-shaped position the tool can relatively easily touch the work surface from the pressure in the hand, because the lever is large. But in the fully unfolded, straight position, the arm support of the tool is quite good (last photos).
In this case, the tool turns into an ordinary small moustabel and it will be as comfortable as possible to work with it.
After getting used to the tool you can put the middle link and work with the ruler as needed.

Note the photo - the sides of the subframe should rest directly on the spring bolts. This is how the tool will be securely fastened. The triangular notch inside the clamp is not for fixing, but to prevent the raw paint from touching the tool.

One last thing - to dilute the paint for drawing fine lines by experience it is best to use ordinary linseed art oil. Not thickened #2, but the most ordinary raw linseed oil (last photo). In this case the lines are thin, long, neat. I advise you to practice for the first time.
